CREATIVE EXCHANGE LAB is a public research, education and exhibition initiative facilitating investment in the intersection of public art+public interest technology with open-source, collectively-owned research.
This summer, JULY-AUGUST 2018, Creative Exchange Lab projects and artists were in residence at Pacific Science Center and other pop-up venues throughout the city.
We hosted workshops, presentations, lab time with local and visiting artists and technologists, project incubation, The Silicon Rainforest exhibit of pioneering immersive experiences, and evening events with a Reality Bar.
Along side those activities, we actively researched and experimented with:
Models and mechanisms for collective, open-source ownership to unlock IP for the public interest
Creative economics and new financial instruments - smart contracts, micro-payments, community coin offering - for advancing public interest art+technology education, incubation and innovation
